The Vision

Situated along the Bexhill coastline, 229 Cooden Drive began as a dated and poorly laid-out property that failed to capture its greatest feature – the stunning views of the English Channel.

The client appointed RX Architects, who produced a remarkable design shaped around their aspirations for space, light, and coastal living. Working from this design, Bellco Construction led the transformation, bringing technical expertise and precision to every stage of delivery.

The Build

From the outset, the project required extensive structural alterations and careful coordination between design and construction teams. Complex steelwork was installed to create large open-plan living areas and generous bedrooms, while a grand rear dormer opened up a spacious landing and filled the upper floor with natural light.

Our team’s experience in managing intricate alterations ensured structural integrity and architectural intent were never compromised. Regular site meetings and progress reviews were held with the architect and client, maintaining alignment on quality, timelines, and vision throughout the build.

Key elements included:

• Air Source Heat Pump and solar PV array with battery storage working in perfect harmony
• The entire house is heated by underfloor heating for consistent comfort
• Hot-water storage and pressurised accumulators ensuring reliable supply across five bathrooms
• Micro-cement finishes to the 4m long by 1.5m deep kitchen island, fireplace hearth, mono-stringer staircase, an entire shower room (floor and walls) plus the entire swimming pool surround.
• Stunning glazed first-floor balcony providing panoramic views of the English Channel
• Hot tub and outdoor shower integrated within the landscaped terrace
• Floor-to-ceiling glazing at the entrance creating a picture-perfect frame of the horizon and waves
